David started Wright Law Office in 1995 and has practiced law for 27 years. He was called to the Bar in Alberta in 1990 and called to the Bar in British Columbia in 1994.
He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree with Distinction from the University of Victoria in 1985. During this time he traveled extensively to several countries in Europe and studied British Politics at the University of Warwick in England.
In 1989, David obtained his Bachelor of Law and his Masters of Business Administration from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
He has completed certification courses in mediation, interest based negotiation skills and collaborative law and also attends law society courses each year.
David practices in the areas of family law, wills and estates and real estate. He believes in attempting to negotiate reasonable resolutions to disputes and keeping clients fully informed about the cost benefit analysis of litigation. He utilizes mediation and arbitration to resolve disputes when possible. He has appeared regularly before the Provincial Court of Alberta and the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta and has also appeared before administrative tribunals and the Court of Appeal of Alberta.
David played for the Calgary Colts Junior Football Club for three years and played hockey for 40 years. He was also active in community sports coaching soccer and hockey for approximately 10 years.
He has served as a Director and President on condominium boards and a community assistance organization. In his spare time, David enjoys spending time with his family, skiing, golfing, traveling, boating and walking with his dog Maddie.
Margaret was born and raised in Wroclaw, Poland. She immigrated to Canada in 1990. After her arrival to Canada she completed a legal assistant course at the Career College and worked as a legal assistant at Beaumont Church in Calgary before moving to Saskatoon in 1994 where she continued to work as a legal assistant until she decided to study law. She graduated from the College of Law, with distinction, in 2001 and moved back to Calgary. Throughout most of her career, as a family and wills and estate lawyer, she has worked as an associate at Wright Law Office and is excited to be a part of their team.
Her arrears of expertise include resolving disputes between married and common law couples, including parenting, custody, child and spousal support, valuation and division of matrimonial property and drafting separation and cohabitation agreements.
Margaret understands that legal dilemmas involving family matters are very difficult to deal with. Having gone through a divorce herself, she appreciates the emotional turmoil clients are going through and aims to resolve their issues in an amicable and respectful way. She encourages the resolution through mediation, viewing litigation as an option of last resort, however she finds herself quite at home in court, having successfully argued cases at all levels of Court in Alberta, Provincial Court, Court of Queen’s Bench and the Alberta Court of Appeal.
She speaks both English and Polish fluently.
Her family is of utmost importance to her and she is very proud of having raised an amazing daughter. She is an animal lover and regards her pets as wonderful members of her family. She loves cooking home-made nutritious meals and enjoys taking long walks at Fish Creek Park.
